Salvatore D. Bonnano who served in the American and Asiatic-Pacific Theather of Operations aboard the USS Caperton DD-650 from 7-30-1943 to 9-11-1945 passed away on December 12, 1992.
He was in the Gilbert Islands, Marshall Islands, Bismarck-Archipelago, Asiatic-Pacific Raids, Western New Guinea, Mariana Islands, Western Caroline Islands, Leyte, Luzon, Philippine Liberation, Okinawa and Occupation of Japan. Awarded the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theather Campaign Ribbon with 9 Bronze Service Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Navy Occupation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
