1944 Muster Rolls Complete!

I have now completed entering the records from the 1943 and 1944 WW2 Muster Rolls into the Database. This consists of over 150 pages, about 100 new sailors and 1500 additional Record of Change (ROC) records. While 1943 records took me about 6 months to transcribe, I was able to transcribe all of 1944 in about 3 weeks. This was due to a generous donation of technology by a family member of one of the sailors.

The Sailors database now contains 1179 sailors names (of both eras) and 3973 records. These records are from 1943 and 1944 only! As such, when you search for a sailor and he is from a time after 1944, either he may not be in the database yet, or his record will be incmplete. Additionally, the PDF generator is based on complete records so using it on a partial record creates kind of a funky looking report.

I also now have copies of all of the Korean War era muster rolls as well, from 1951 to 1960 when the USS Caperton was decomissioned. I will continue to work thru the muster rolls as I have time, but it will still be a while before I have all of the records online. Therefore if you cannot find the sailor you are looking for please email me at donald@caperton.info and I will search my records for information.

I have also added the capability to include a photo of the sailor in the database, though only 6 have been added so far. If you would like to have a photo of your sailor added to the database please email it to me and I would be honored to add it.

You can stay current on the completion status of the Muster rolls over at the About The Sailors Database page.
